Gender & Tech: The Greek Landscape 2024

Big Pi team ·

At Big Pi Ventures, we believe meaningful change begins with understanding where we stand. That’s why we set out to collect data on gender representation in the Greek tech ecosystem, not to draw conclusions, but to start an informed conversation.

This report offers a data-driven look at gender representation across the Greek tech ecosystem, from workforce participation and leadership roles to workplace policies and access to capital.

Drawing on original survey data from 100 technology companies and nearly 4,000 employees, it provides the first ecosystem-wide snapshot of where women are present, where they’re missing, and what structural factors may be holding them back. The findings are complemented by national and EU-level data, as well as expert commentary from across the ecosystem.

Some key takeaways:

  • Women remain underrepresented in tech despite strong workforce participation
  • Senior roles and board seats are still overwhelmingly male-dominated
  • Only 5% of VC partners and 8% of angel investors in Greece are women
  • Many firms still lack pay transparency and sexual harassment policies
  • Parental leave support is improving, but remains inconsistent across company sizes
