Big Pi Growth leads Series A extension investment into finmid
We are excited to have led the €17m Series A extension investment in finmid, with Mainset co-investing and Earlybird following on!
Founded in Berlin in 2021 by Max Schertel and Alexander Talkanitsa, both formerly at N26, finmid is the embedded lending company behind the financing programmes of Europe's leading platforms, including Wolt, Delivery Hero, Bolt, efood and myPOS. Through a single integration, platforms can offer their business customers tailored financing, from working-capital advances to multi-year asset loans. Every loan is underwritten on platform data, and the capital can come from the platform itself, its banking partner or finmid's refinancing partners.
Since launch, finmid has extended more than €4bn in financing offers to businesses through platforms in 30 European markets. Around 85% of borrowers come back for more financing, and merchants who take financing have grown their revenue on the partner platform by up to 45%.
Alongside the round, finmid is launching vehicle financing for fleet operators on Bolt, as well as merchant financing on Skroutz, Greece's largest online marketplace, funded by Skroutz itself.
The new capital will be used to scale finmid’s asset-finance product, its multi-source funding platform and its underwriting capabilities, and to expand into new platform categories such as mobility and e-commerce. Part of the funding will go towards building an Athens hub. Greece is already one of finmid’s most important markets through its partnerships with efood and Wolt, and the Skroutz launch deepens that presence further.
Big Pi Growth is the first technology growth-equity fund from Greece and south-east Europe. It supports founders and companies in the next stage of their journey towards changing lives for the better or transforming markets and sectors.
We are proud to support Max, Alex and the finmid team and are truly excited for what lies ahead!
